DELIVERABLES
Rapid Protoype of the Game
This was our 2nd project at the ETC for BVW course. We were told that the out virtual worlds will be played by naive users and thus we had to be very careful with our design. It was very important for us to provide subtle clues to the player during his/her experience for the ease of completion. Our biggest challenge was using a platform as new as this Eye gaze technology.
For this project I was the UX designer and also the sound designer. This was an unusual technology for us and our brainstorming sessions were very long for this project. Something which we realized during our brainstorming was as its a Eye-gaze platform something as simple as top-down view would be really easy for the player.
With this in the mind & also an inspiration from the popular TV show "game of thrones"the intro-scene we designed our first prototype with a foggy scene and a greylandscape. After we got feedback from many play-testers, we revised our scene to makevisually appealing and colorful landscape.
For any naive user, it is important to give indirect control to user. We planted clues atvarious places in the game like footsteps in particular direction, bird sound from somepoint, light ray pointing at some object and many more.
The sound for this virtual world was very important as to prevent any distracting soundand to enhance the important clue giving sounds. The background music wasappreciated from many people. The play-testing and user feedback really help us shapethis game into a beautiful virtual world.
